Use a Queue to hand off work between Wrkflows
Use a Queue in Datastore when one Wrkflow receives work and another should process it, or when you need to track items as they wait. Watch the walkthrough to see a Queue explained with a restaurant example, then used in the Wrk platform.
Remember
- The producer Wrkflow adds an item. A separate consumer Wrkflow retrieves and processes it. Both use the same Queue name.
- A Queue holds and tracks items. A trigger or schedule starts each Wrkflow; the Queue does not start or process them.
- Retrieve next item claims an eligible item and marks it In Progress. The consumer uses Update item with the item's Queue Item ID to mark it Complete or Exception after processing.
For the full item lifecycle, retrieval rules, and settings for all five Queue Wrk Actions, see the Datastore Queues reference.
