Build your first Wrkflow

Learn to build an automation on the Wrk platform by creating a daily space-news briefing. You'll retrieve articles, turn them into a short AI summary, and send the result to your inbox. Along the way, you'll connect Wrk Actions, pass data between steps, test the result, and schedule a daily launch.

Watch the seven-minute walkthrough, and use the copyable settings below as you follow along.

Retrieve the articles

In Perform an API call, choose GET and use this endpoint:

https://api.spaceflightnewsapi.net/v4/articles/

After testing, create a custom output named Results from Response body, using JSONPath $.results. The video shows how to add dynamic date filters for yesterday's articles.

Create the AI briefing

Use Generate a response with Gemini Flash 3 with the following text.

System message

You write clear, concise news briefings using only the supplied article data. Your output will be sent by email, format nicely in HTML

Prompt

Choose up to three stories most relevant to commercial spaceflight, robotics, or satellite technology, and write a short morning briefing with a one-sentence summary and source link for each.

{{Results}}

{{Results}} references the custom output named Results from the API Wrk Action. Create that output first, then paste the full prompt into the prompt field. Double curly brackets let you include an output reference directly inside a long text field.

Test and schedule

Send Gemini's Generated text to your own email address using Send email. Save and launch the Wrkflow, inspect its jobs in the Debug Console, and check the delivered briefing before enabling a daily schedule.

The video schedules launches at 09:00 America/New_York. Choose your preferred time and schedule timezone.
